Search Google places when possible. Pick on map is useful for viewpoints, parking, trailheads and unnamed locations. Notes do not need a map location.
Control placement
Auto place uses time when one is entered; otherwise it finds the route gap with the smallest geographic detour. You can override it with End of day or Before a specific stop.
